February, for PA, is the middle of winter. We are currently experiencing the Polar Vortex with windchills well in the negatives which seems to have gripped the entire country. I don’t know about the rest of you, but the holiday decorations I hung outside the store are still hanging and will remain there until the fear of frostbite is over. Thank goodness they are snowflake lights and are still acceptable after the new year. The inside of my store though is taking on a more cheery and springy atmosphere.
Greens are being replaced with warm spring garlands. Snowmen and Santas are being moved to make room for our charming Lyla and Chester bunnies, darling Dillards, our duck family and sweet Flora with her little baby inside. We have rich jewel colored eggs and pretty pastel ones to match any home décor. Our animals, woodland and farm, are all looking for their new homes too. It is just so much fun changing the seasons out and decorating with all the new ideas.
We also have some exciting classes coming up in February. On the 9th, we are holding a Valentine Bear’s Class just in time for you to craft for your special someone. This is the first class we have held that you will be able to burn some details onto your gourd. The cost is $30.00. The next class is being held on February 23rd. This is the Spring House and Bunny Class. The houses are new to our Meadowbrooke line and are all hand-crafted here on the farm. In this class, you will paint an adorable Lil’ Bunny to live in the cozy little home you paint and assemble. There will be 5 pastel colors for you to choose from. You can also accessorize the windows and front door. A little, white picket fence completes your Easter creation. The cost for this class is $45.00. There are still openings for each class and you do need to register. Here is the link if you are interested to see what times are still available, mbgourds.ticketbud.com.
I am throwing out a reminder that the Spring Create Your Owns and our annual Gourd Egg Hunt are coming and you want to make sure you are on the list to receive our email newsletter. Remember our newsletter customers will receive an email 24 hours before the events hit the public. This is your chance to sign up before it is sold out. We will be opening registration soon. Please start talking with your friends and family now so that when registration does open up, you already know how many tickets you will need and do not waste valuable time trying to get a hold of everyone then. The link to sign up for the newsletter is www.mbgourds.com/newsletter.
Well, I guess we will see what Punxsutawney Phil will forecast on Saturday, February 2nd for Groundhog Day. Will he see his shadow indicating six more weeks of winter or will we be lucky and have an early spring this year? Guess we will just have to wait and find out.
Until next month, Dori
