Sunflowers and Secrets

Here we are in the middle of September and our Sunflower season is in full swing, the Sunflower Festival is just over a week away and the Cumberland County Best Kept Secret Tour starts next week. So much is going on so I’m here to give you bit of information on everything coming up.

Sunflower Season

Sunflower Season began a few weeks ago when our first small field of sunflower started blooming. Since then, a larger field has been blooming and hundreds of people have been out to pick the FREE sunflowers. We have staggered our plantings so when one field is dying back, another field is starting to open and bloom. You can always find the best sunflower field by looking for the giant white pumpkin which will be moved around the farm to the prime fields. Don’t forget to bring along something to cut them with and a jar or something to take them home in. If you do forget, we have clippers and jars in the store for purchase. We also have a snipping station set up on the front porch for you to snip off your stems and pull off the bottom leaves. There is a hose located at the end of the handicapped ramp by the store to fill your containers. Starting on Friday evening, September 17th, we will begin our Sunset Trolley Rides around the farm on Friday and Saturday nights. There is only one ride each night which begins promptly at 6:15 pm. The ride lasts about 40-45 minutes long and will take you around the farm to see where the gourds are growing this year, past sunflower fields where you can get off and pick some and end at the top of the hill to watch the sun go down and the multicolored sunset which is always stunning. The cost is $5.00 per person but handheld infants are free. You can find more information and to register for the rides by clicking here!

Warehime’s Pumpkin Patch will also be opening on September 17th and will be continuing to be open into October on Friday 4pm-7pm, Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. They will have a variety of sizes and colors of pumpkins and are priced by the pound. You can follow them on Facebook for the latest updates and information by clicking here!

Sunflower Festival

Our Sunflower Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26 this year. Besides being able to pick our FREE sunflowers, we will have 25 different vendors selling their handmade crafts, food, and beverages for you to look at and work on completing your Fall decorations. We will also be holding our famous Oops Sale each day from 10am-6pm. The sale will be held in three tents separated by seasons. We will continually be restocking the Oops throughout both days until they are gone. Ok, so now you have shopped and realize you are hungry, well we have you covered. Pipe Belle’s BBQ, Firebox Street Grill, B & L Dogz and Hall’s Ice Cream will be on hand to take care of every hunger pain. Once you are full, take a ride on our Trolley. The Trolley will take you on a leisurely, scenic ride around our beautiful farm. The Trolley will depart at 1:00pm, 3:00pm and 5:00pm. We recommend making reservations which can be done through our website. Warehime’s Pumpkin Patch will also be open from 10:00am-6:00pm both days. On Saturday evening, relax and enjoy listening to some great music by The Townies. Bring your blankets, chairs and popup tents and enjoy the Fall season on the farm.

Some families and friends have made our Sunflower Festival a tradition for everyone to meet up and enjoy a day together to make some great memories. For those that were here last year or tried to be here, we did want to let you know that we have made several major improvements to the farm to accommodate more parking and added additional grassy area to help spread everyone out and around the farm. Each year we learn something new and last year was definitely a learning experience. Best Kept Secret Tour

Cumberland County Best Kept Secret Tour was not able to happen last year due to COVID, but it is back this year with even more stores on it. What is the Best Kept Secret Tour, well, let me explain? The tour consists of about 30 stores all located within Cumberland County. The stores range from gift shops to wineries, candy stores, restaurants and so much more. The tour costs $10.00 for you ticket which will include a map of the stores, descriptions of each store and all the events and sales that are going on exclusive to those who hold a ticket. The tour begins on September 23rd and runs until October 9th, and you can do all of them in one day or space it over the entire time. The secret part of the tour is that you will not know who is on it until you buy your ticket and then everything comes to light (pssst, we are on it!). We have plenty of tickets to sell in our retail store. We will also have them to see during our Sunflower Festival which would be a great day to purchase and be able to start your tour that day. I did this with my sisters two years ago and we had a great time. We found stores we didn’t even know about and have now have some new shopping places for those unique gifts. Grab your friends and family and explore Cumberland County in the cool (hopefully) Fall weather.

There are lots of things going on here on the farm and there will be only more coming as we head into the holiday seasons. We hope you will be able to make it out, we’d love to see you.
